Beginning in July, students will get AP scores online! Since we'll no longer be sending reports in the mail, there are a few things students will want to do to get ready.

AP Pass Calculator Site
This is pretty handy and might make you feel a little better. You can calculate out your scores.Obviously the Advanced Placement test is not just any other high school test. You are going to miss questions. You are probably going to miss a LOT of questions. Don't give up. Keep taking it one question at a time. The more you get right the better score you will have.
Don't skip any FRQ essay responses. By doing so you will have to score 2 or 3 points more on the other FRQ answers. That is hard to do.
Follow this link to check out the site and you can input your own scores and see where you would fall.
AP Test Pre-Registration
Next week marks the beginning of Advanced Placement Testing (as well as STAAR/EOC exams). In order to effectively administer AP exams, students are required to attend a pre-administration to complete necessary information before testing begins. This year we are administering an AHS record 974 AP exams.
Most students have already registered, but we still have many who need to complete this important testing administrative tasks.
This week I will conduct two additional AP Pre-Administration Sessions in the Red LG, Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 pm and Thursday morning at 8:00 am. Please let your AP students/testers know that if they have not already taken care of the pre-administration paperwork, they MUST attend one of these two sessions this week.
Please tell your students to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to sign in and pick up AP student packs and AP paperwork. After the session starts, no students will be allowed in late.

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD PRINT OUT THE DUEZ AP "MONSTER REVIEW" AND BEGIN STUDYING IT AT HOME. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING IN CERTAIN PORTIONS DURING THE NEXT 3 WEEKS FOR IN CLASS WORK.
This week, pages 1 through 31 are essential history to understand. Also the tail end of the Monster Review deals with the 3 FRQ prompts. It is a good idea to have that handy as well.

A Little Inspiration. Calvin & Churchill.
As I watched my classes write the Continuity and Change Over Time Essay this week (and then take a district mandated SEVENTY-FIVE QUESTION Mock EOC test)... this cartoon came to mind:
Certainly Calvin is no "exception" when it comes to students struggling to find their words on a history essay. However, I believe my students are well on the way to being ready for the test on May 16th! Keep writing and keep working. It will be worth it.

Over the holiday break, think about a theme for WHAP T-Shirts. We will need to create it soon and order it in Feb-March for it to be ready for the test.
We will begin Chapter 14 when we return from the break with the 2nd half of the video - America Before Columbus. It will look at the impact of Columbian Exchange on the world.

AP Test: To sign-up and pay for AP Test go to:

Click on the Link for 'AP' and follow the directions. You will find links for AP Exam Information, AP Exam Calendar and Test Regulation.
AP test are $90 per exam. There is a $2.75 processing fee to handle your online payment. The payment site accepts all Credit Cards and Paypal.
You can registrar for all of your test or one at a time. Please note that the last day to registrar without a $50 late fee, is March 13th. You can registrar from March 14th - March 24th with a late fee. For more information, click on the page title AP Testing in the left hand menu.
Students have the option to register one test at a time or all their test at once. The test is still $90 - the other 2.75 is the service charge to process the Paypal or CC purchase - just like Amazon or any other online purchase. If a student is free/reduced there is a waiver that will bring the price down - they must see Ms. Willows, the testing coordinator, to get it. The district has made it almost impossible to take money - This is the only way I can process over 500 test fees.
