We are the Exception! WHAP - 2015 T-Shirts

I threw together this T-Shirt tonight
$25.00 is a pretty fair price. The shirt would have been less with a less fancy design, but I thought 'Khan' himself would be a perfect person to feature.

The 2015 test has been conquered. The World Is Yours!
Now the T-Shirt can be, too.

Order today!
The campaign ends on Tuesday, May 19th.

WHAP T-Shirts - 2014 edition

Quick, simple, and hopefully fun.
I put together a very simple and easy design to celebrate the year. Some have asked about getting T-Shirts. They are very difficult to do. So many people have different ideas, different design wishes, and last year was a real battle to get it all completed in time. Frankly, I was not going to do them this year.
Teespring.com has a very simple way to deal with this. Read the details here at this link:
http://teespring.com/whap
If we sell 50 shirts they will be created. If we don't sell at least 50, they won't and it will just be over and done. We can sell 5,000 - that's fine.

The cost is $11 per shirt.

I trimmed the cost down as low as possible. Yet the design and typeface are still simple and should be easy to read with a nice black boarder around the white typeface.

Let me know if you ordered one. :)
We have already sold 2. One for me and one for Aidan. Only 48 more to go.

Oh yeah, I am including ANYONE - including Ms. Jordan's kids and Mr. Williams' WHAP students. The more the merrier and the better the chance they will get completed. :)

The T-Shirts Look Awesome!

My son Aidan has one, too!
Now Aidan is going to have to take WHAP.
The T-Shirts are a tribute to the great Peter Weller. He is the host of the History Channel documentaries - Engineering an Empire. Always enthusiastic, bold, confident (ok, cocky), Peter Weller is a history buff.  In 2004, Weller completed a Master's degree in Roman and Renaissance Art at Syracuse University (in Florence, Italy) and occasionally taught courses in ancient history at the university. In 2007, Weller began a Ph.D. at UCLA, in Italian Renaissance art history. He expects to complete his dissertation in 2013.
The basic idea boils down to a name tag on the front that features Peter Weller's actual signature. Then Alvin created a fantastic drawing of the man himself. The back portion says, "HI PETER!" right back to him, like we do in class during Engineering an Empire. During each episode, Peter would introduce himself during the first moments he is on screen, "Hello... I'm Peter Weller." Then the class would immediately respond, "HI PETER!" Hence, the back of the shirt!  The hash-tags go with a number of things that came up during discussion this year and were suggested by many students.

#WHAP = World History Advanced Placement
#TeamPassThatTest = well, we work together to get ready for and pass the AP Test
#TheDarkAges = It was a time period (disputed though) in real history, and metaphorically each student passes through their own dark ages and hopefully becomes enlightened!
#StrayerSunday = Why this is the hash-tag of choice for the procrastinating student as they cram on Sunday to prepare for the open notes quiz over the next chapter on Monday. "Strayer" is the author of our text book - The Ways of the World.
#VanDownByTheRiver = What Mr. Duez says (too often) about losing his job, insurance, marriage, and family. Then having to resort to living in a Van Down By the River. Which may just happen someday!
The shirts look fantastic!
Great job 3rd Period. They led the charge on creating the t-shirt.
It even looks good on Mr. Duez. (not that it is an upset or anything... c'mon.)
Sixth period... lookin' good!

2012-2013 WHAP T-Shirts

We have gathered a lot of ideas for T-Shirts. I worked on this for awhile this afternoon.

The basic idea boils down to a name tag on the front that features Peter Weller's signature. Then Alvin created a fantastic drawing of the man himself. The back portion says, "HI PETER!" right back to him, like we do in class during Engineering an Empire. During each episode, Peter would introduce himself during the first moments he is on screen, "Hello... I'm Peter Weller." The hashtags go with a number of things that came up during discussion during the year and were suggested by many students. We can always add to these, the costs jumps when you add color ink. So I have stuck to the basic white color and used an outline around "HI PETER!" and "World History Advanced Placement" & "2012-2013" to make them stand out. There isn't a color filled in - this cuts down on cost and uses the color of the t-shirt to highlight it.

For these shirts the costs break down like this:
  • $14.00 - for 50 shirts
  • $16.00 - for 30 shirts
  • $18.00 - for 20 shirts
Basically a rough estimate. Obviously if you get more ordered of different sizes it can change. As I have mentioned, it would be fantastic to have students & parents organize this and collect money, etc. It's a difficult thing for me to do.

So I guess the ball is in your court. Any other ideas? Shoot me an email: david.duez@humble.k12.tx.us

Here is the design with different color schemes:
